Animation Bits July 001

Got some animation to start wrapping up. I will be posting some stuff to my Qilin project blog.

But, first we're wrapping up the old project to learn the  programs, and I've also been playing in After Effects. Tomorrow I'll be filming again on location in Bridgewater, but also have a long drive to Rhode Island because some of our talent is over there.

Fixed this sucker up a lot. But It's STILL not the  Raytrace Extrude in After Effects on the Logo. In order to get this to work, I had to blacken in some parts or it wouldn't build the mesh in Photoshop's 3D Extruder.

Another "butterfly wing flap" style puppet animation in Adobe After Effects. Real bird wings don;t flap this way, but whatevz. This one ALSO got picky with me.

Toon Boom Harmony animation. I can animate MUCH MUCH faster in Toon Boom Harmony.

DSLR The DIY Mermaid Tail Cosplay Photo Shoot

I shot all of these in the piddly little park in my neighborhood, and around high noon, with a UV filter to prevent white washing of the colors, but made the frames very dark. So, I had to edit them later today. It was a quick photo shoot. Nothing major.

DIY Mermaid Tail Cosplay Redo

I wanted to KILL HER! She's old enough to do this HERSELF! This was SOOOOOOOO physically PAINFUL, and FRUSTRATING TO FINISH! Setbacks galore! Had to disassemble & resemble my sewing machines MULTIPLE TIMES!

I think it's made from a totally of like 5-6 pairs of old leggings/tights that she can't fit anymore.

I started this thing last year, but she didn't like the material of the tail part because it caused a lot of drag in the water. Different materials behave differently in water than in air/atmosphere.

So, here's the monofin I bought via Amazon which shipped from China. Took forever!

I cut the tights into strips, which I had to do ON THE F@#$ING FLOOR because (don't ask) spouses happen... crappy wokring conditions, spouses with OCD controll freak issues. I WANTED TO QUIT THIS PROJECT SO MANY TIMES!

Let's talk about LOWER BACK PAIN!

On 2nd,  thought, LET'S NOT!

I could ONLY work on this up to 3 hours at a time, because I was sprawled and hunched over on the floor, because POVERTY SUX, and working tables which COULD exist, are vetoed via controll freak spouses...

So, I'm NOT like a teenager nor 20 something... I'm 36... I can;t do stuff like before... because PAIN!
Pain that can last for DAYS, and bother sleep, or bother waking up, or prevent me from living, or going to the gym... I also got HEAD ACHES, neck aches, head aches...

WHY?

Because doing this shit on the floor is NOT the right way to do it... but, I don;t have a table I'm allowed to work on...

Plus, I had to use our so-called dining table, more like a makeshift dining table, to put my sewing machine on... and i CAN'T move it in between working on it. So, back & forth from cutting, arranging, pinning, sewing... fixing machine... PAIN PAIN PAIN PAIN!

If I sound grumpy & disgruntled, and resentful over this thing, it's because I AM!

I also had a number of other things I had to do, because MOTHERHOOD... and Father's sometimes SUCK, and thing spending money makes everything better! But, HIS artwork is PRIORITY because machoists have testicles... and somehow that makes sense in their heads... *shrugs*

But, at least we got to see Ghostbusters. I alos had to go catch Pokemon with the kid. Can we talk about back pain?

On 2nd, thought, let's NOT...

My disgruntled frustration:

I was on a roll with my own personal artwork, and other projects I was doing, when the kid, and the spouse got all up in my face to do this thing...

This is what it looks like dry. It stretches out in the water.

Here it is in the water:

I also had to get all this done before I started my federal work study "job".

I finished this last week, and I couldn't get time to blog this out until now, and I gotta tell ya, thousands of things distracting me ALL DAY.

I told the kid I am NEVER EVER doing another one, EVER! If she wants a new one she can make it herself, or fund-raise on her own.

I could've been finished a lot quicker had Mr. Wang taken us to Joanne's fabric store, because she had cash to buy fabric... BUT, NO, he didn't want to spend the gasoline, or his tires kept deflating, or people in heatwaves drive insanely on the roads...

Also, at one point I told him: DO NOT TOUCH NOR MOVE ANYTHING, because I had ths trips laid out, in order. Needed to pin them but the kid needed to go to the free concert over at the FOGG Library down the street, plus catch Pokemon.

I come back ,and EVERYTHING was MOVED! I mean, I went over it, over and over, and said: DO YOU UNDERSTAND? and THIS IS WHY... and he was like: OK! OK! I GET IT! SHUUT UP ALREADY...

But, as always, he goes OCD controll freak, and has to CLEAN and TIDY everything JUST BECAUSE I'M doing something creative, and he has control freak, internal mental issues...

Turns out he was VACUUMING and sucked up my fabric which I SPECIFICALLY TOLD HIM NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING!!!!!! AND, EXPLAINED IT AD NAUSEUM!

Then, after denying it, checked the vacuum, found it, admitted he f@#$ed up, and then washed it, which set me back A WHOLE DAY!

Murphy's friggin' law!

SO, I HOPE you enjoyed it.

I still need to shoot some DSLR photos of it...

I've also posted a blog version of this to LinkedIn
